Experts in support and shaping garments

The reasons for wearing support garments can be many. Ostomates and people with hernias can have a need for concealing and supporting the ostomy pouch, enabling them to live everyday life with normal physical activity. Women can in the immediate postnatal state feel a need for support of loose skin or can during pregnancy also wish to support.

Moreover, numerous studies have demonstrated the positive effects that support and shaping garments can have on thermal activity and general blood flow. Many pieces of shapewear on the market now are designed in a way that increases thermal activity in the body. This assists with increasing blood flow and elimination of toxins.  All the products we develop, design and manufacture for our customers are carefully designed with an understanding of the human body. All garments are all extremely comfortable and have a high degree of functionality built in as well.

4-way
stretch

The textile will adapt to the body shape at all times ensuring that the product will provide the necessary compression needed for recovery, as well as the best possible comfort at all times during prolonged wear.

Targeted compression
and support

Targeted compression and support means that our partners' products are designed to provide the necessary compression and support exactly where needed. By controlling compression on the scar tissue, the healing process advances faster and patient comfort is heightened. The compression zones are specially designed into each product based on indication.

Seamless
knitting

For optimum healing, the surgery site needs rest. That is why products from Tytex and our partners are designed to guarantee no seams in the wound or scar area and at any other critical sites of the applied area. This provides maximum skin friendliness and prevents pressure marks, as well as irritation of skin and tissue.

Fact-based
sizing

When it comes to medical textiles and post-op garments, no size fits all. That is why we base all sizes on three parametres; statistical body knowledge, comfort stretch measurements and extensive knowledge and experience with the combination of knitting methods in different materials. The combination of these 3 parameters ensures perfect fit at all times.

Support garments developed, designed and manufactured by Tytex for B2B customers

Support garments are designed to provide support to a specific area of the body. Support garments from Tytex and partners can be used for many purposes e.g. support of a hernia, support of a specific area during pregnancy or after giving birth as well as supporting specific areas of the body after surgery. Moreover, a support garment can be used for aiding in relation to body corrections.

No matter what garment your company wish to bring to market, a support garment developed, designed and manufactured in cooperation with Tytex will be specially designed and crafted to be used with the patient-specific situation it is developed to address. Garments made by Tytex and our partners are all designed to reduce and alleviate the complications and risks that a surgery or a specific situation can cause.

Special features for optimising the healing process and maximising comfort

By featuring seamless design the garments help the end user feel comfortable and avoid general skin irritation or scraping. By incorporating elasticated 4-way stretch the garments ensure optimal adjustment to the users' body contours throughout the entire period of wear. By employing various technologies — e.g. weft or warp knitting or cut and sew — and featuring different knitting zones in the garment as well as applying accessories such as straps, zippers and hook & eye, complete control of support level is achieved.

As opposed to compression garments the objective of a support garment is not — necessarily — to reduce swelling or increase blow flow to specific areas of the body. The objective is to assist in holding some thing or some part of the human body in place. Implicitly the aim is therefore often to not affect the human body directly. The aim is more often than not exactly the opposite, to reduce impact. This might sound mundane however, this has sizable effects on the garment and the process involved in creating the garment. We are experts in developing and designing garments which offer optimal support while being as functional and comfortable as technologically possible.

Blends of materials can also optimise comfort

Partner products developed, designed and manufactured by Tytex are all made in a special blends of material compositions – e.g. cotton, tencel, bamboo, polyamide (or polyester) and elastane – to give them an optimally comfortable and silky feel as well as an attractive appearance, so the support products all have soft, smooth finishes and provide optimal support and fit. All support products are breathable and comfortable products which perfectly adapt to the body’s changing shape, by expanding and contracting accordingly and they also help in providing a smooth appearance for discretion.

We adhere to and are certified according to the strictest medical requirements

How support specifically is achieved

By way of knitting zones each garment has its own completely unique knitting structures. Researchers and developers employed at Tytex carefully design and craft each garment according to the condition it is meant to address.

Using these zones as guidelines Tytex professionals engage in dialogue with partners regarding the specific purpose of a garment. If the garment is meant to stabilize and support key areas on the body, respiratory functions and blood flow perhaps needs to be considered. Is the garment to be used at extremities other considerations such as fixtures and flexibility should be considered.

Tighter structures are applied when separation, fixation and stabilization is the aim. When lift, support and shaping is the goal tight structures are still used but to a lessor degree. Between firm knitting structures and loose knitting structures, are the so-called transitional knitting structures. They are an essential part of each garment for increased comfort and for the creation of a smooth body profile. With very loose structures hold and flexibility is achieved. The various technologies applied at Tytex allows for using the knitting zones for a multitude of purposes and the ability to create outstanding patient comfort.
